Darrin Varden Design creates timeless interiors without limitations to any specific style, trend, or time period. Darrin gathers inspiration from fashion, art, and history, using juxtaposition as a tool to create an intriguing dynamic between furnishings, textiles, art, lighting and architecture. He provides clients with homes that fit their needs and fulfill their dreams, each unique to their desires and ways of living.
Even during childhood there were clues that Darrin was born to design interiors. “I was always rearranging the furniture the second my parents would leave and went through 5-bedroom schemes growing up,” says the designer. Having a journey to get to design, as an Actor, a Model and a Flight Attendant, before going back to school at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Darrin worked for three design firms in NYC and was fortunate to have been mentored by noted designer/architect Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz and famed design star Jamie Drake. Darrin joined BNO Design as a design assistant while still a student. Upon graduation he became a designer at Charles Klein for two years and then a senior designer at Drake Design Associates for six years before launching Darrin Varden Design in spring of 2013.
A pillar of his practice is his deep respect for fine handcraft and devotion to partnering with artists and artisans to incorporate superb custom elements. He has completed multiple projects in New York’s historic Apthorp building and other landmark structures around Manhattan as well as in the Hamptons, and has completed projects in the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Washington, DC., Los Angeles, and Beyond.
Darrin was awarded the Rising Star in 2014 by the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) and now has been creating interiors for over 10 years.
